Performs laboratory testing of patient specimens in one or more sections of the laboratory.
Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens. Interprets, documents and reports test results
Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Complies with good laboratory practice and regulatory requirements.
Performs projects as assigned as well as serves as a consultant to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.
Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, test result reporting and specimen collection.
Provides service in one or more sections of the laboratory with a high level of accuracy, precision and timeliness and ensures compliance with departmental and regulatory agency standards. Service is provided to patients of all age groups.
Provides oversight and work direction to MLTs and phlebotomists in the absence of management. Non-technical duties include taking supply inventories, stocking supplies, cleaning and maintaining work area, equipment and instrumentation.
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, and take appropriate action. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
Bachelor's degree in related field and graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist program.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. .
